Willmer Wesley Wise Jr., lovingly known as “Bill,” passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, and was joyfully reunited with the love of his life, Sue Nell Wise. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on July 29, 1931, Bill was the beloved son of the late Edith and Willmer Wise Sr.
A proud graduate of Manual High School, Bill married Sue Nell Redmon in 1951, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion while raising their son, Alan Richard “Rick” Wise in Louisville.
Bill served his country faithfully as a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves for 12 years and enjoyed a long and fulfilling 39-year career at Ford Motor Company. Known by family, friends, and neighbors as someone who could “fix anything,” Bill was a man of great talent, resourcefulness, and heart.
In retirement, Bill and Sue shared a passion for traveling, visiting casinos, and attending car shows—often showcasing his cherished 1971 Ranchero. He also found great joy in spending time with friends and family. His community at the Shelby House, where he lived for 34 years, became an extension of his family—friends who brought light and companionship to his later years.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend. He is preceded in death by his wife Sue Nell, his mother Edith Miller (Tom), his father Willmer Wise Sr. (Olivia), and his brother Jimmy Wise (Carol).
He leaves behind his loving son, Alan Richard “Rick” Wise (Cheryl), as well as his cherished niece LaQuita Hudson (Craig), nephew Steve Gross (Bonnie), nephew Jerry Redmon, nephew Steve Redmon, nephew Gary Redmon, and Ted Redmon. His legacy lives on through those he loved and inspired.
