Thomas Ray Wright, age 78, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026. Born on June 12, 1948, and raised on a farm in North Central Indiana, Tom spent the majority of his adult life as a resident of Louisville, Kentucky. He proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked as a farmer, teacher, and insurance agent before finding his passion as an Engineer for the Federal Government.
An avid reader, Tom had a lifelong passion for learning, particularly when it came to history and mathematics. He also enjoyed tackling mind-sharpening puzzles like crosswords and sudoku. Upon his retirement, Tom happily returned to his farming roots. He loved spending his days on his small farm in New Castle, working on his tractors.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, Joyce; his sons, John and Joe (Tamera); his brother, Steve Wright (Kay); and his sister, Carol Potts (Don). He also leaves behind a proud legacy in his eight grandchildren: Katie, Sydney, Steven, Natalie, Jonathan, Thomas, Nathan, and Matthew, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East on August 3, 2026, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. Funeral service will take place at 6:00pm.
