Susan “Sue” Thompson Tachias, 65, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away in her home, surrounded by loved ones at her side on July 13, 2026.
Sue was born on May 8, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Warren and BeBe Chedd.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Greg Tachias; her daughter, Courtney Thompson; and her son, Colby Thompson. She is also survived by her devoted dog, Julep, who loved her dearly.
Sue is survived by her sisters, Amy Warren (Steve), Kathy Spacek, Jill Weber (Jed), and brothers, Warren "Chuck" Chedd (Rena), and Kevin Chedd. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Betty Thompson; her cherished Pi Phi sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became her chosen family.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Schaftlein; her first husband, Scott Thompson; her father-in-law, Bernie Thompson; and her mother-in-law, Mary Tachias.
Sue was beautiful, hilarious, fun-loving, and a true social butterfly. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a loyal friend. Humble and hardworking, Sue faced her battle with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with remarkable strength and grace, never complaining despite the challenges she endured. While her family will miss her deeply, they find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering.
Sue was a Christian and a faithful member of Southeast Christian Church. She loved spending time at the beach, listening to live music, and her favorite color was yellow. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on August 15, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens East from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In true Sue fashion, colorful beach themed attire is requested.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Following the funeral service, friends and family are invited to Greg and Sue’s home for a fun filled “Sue-lebration” of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sue’s GoFundMe to assist with her medical expenses, which can be found on Courtney Thompson’s Facebook page.
