Silas Eugene Moss, 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 27, 2025. Born in Hazard, Kentucky, on March 27, 1949, he was the beloved son of the late Robert and Henrietta Moss.
Silas lived a full and vibrant life, embracing everything he loved with energy and pride. He was an avid bowler, an enthusiastic motorcycle rider, and loved playing pool. Known for his skilled hands, Silas was a true handyman who enjoyed working on cars and listening to smooth jazz music. He was a devoted fan of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Louisville Cardinals, never missing a chance to cheer on his teams.
A people person through and through, Silas was a proud original member of the King Cobra Motorcycle Club in Lexington, Kentucky. His presence and loyalty earned him lifelong friendships within the motorcycle community.
Silas enjoyed a long and dedicated working life, retiring from Square D Company in Lexington, Challenger Lifts in Louisville, and AutoZone, where he was respected for his work ethic and reliability.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Moss, and his children: Kevin Moss, LaTonya Moss, and Tim Smoot. Silas also leaves behind several cherished siblings: Princess Irwin, Pat Cornett (Ken), Iantha Baker, Albert Moss, and Larry Moss (Georgia).
He was a proud grandfather to Shabrya Smoot, Lakin Moss, Peyton Moss, Hunter Moss, Landon Moss, Destiny Johnson and McKynnah Moss, all of whom deeply loved their grandfather. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Silas is survived by his mother-in-law, Jeweline DeWitt, his brothers-in-law, James DeWitt (Annie) and Michael DeWitt, and his sister-in-law, Valerie DeWitt.
He now joins in eternal rest his siblings: Billie Maniece, Eleanor Crutcher, Robert Moss, his twin brother Paul Moss, James Moss, and Tim Moss, as well as his father-in-law, James DeWitt, and brother-in-law, Gregory DeWitt.
Service Details
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, with burial immediately after at the same location.
Silas will be remembered for his warm spirit, his ability to bring people together, and his unwavering love for family, friends, and the open road. His legacy lives on in those he loved and the lives he touched.
