Raymond Daugherty Jr., 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at The Carl M. Brashear VA Home. Born on December 23, 1947, in Means, Kentucky, to the late Raymond and Lettie Daugherty, Ray lived a life of service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Ray served his country honorably in the United States Navy as a SeaBee in the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Ten, Bravo Company, 2nd Platoon, during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Ray attended the University of Kentucky and went on to build a successful 40-year career in insurance and financial advising.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Ingrid M. Daugherty, his son, Raymond "Beau" Daugherty III, and his brothers, Jack and Walter Daugherty.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Erika Drenth, son-in-law Kevin Drenth, grandson, Hunter Dean Drenth, and his siblings: Randy Daugherty, Sandra Daugherty, and Wayne Daugherty.
A service celebrating Ray’s life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1:00 pm with visitation before from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, located at 11601 Ballardsville Rd. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 16, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Ray’s legacy of service, love, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family and friends will remember his strength, his commitment to his loved ones, and the values he carried throughout his life.
