Mary Isabelle Goff, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Louisville, Kentucky, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on April 16, 1935, in Virginia to Elijah and Minda Massie, Mary lived a full and vibrant life marked by deep compassion, an adventurous spirit, and a heart that welcomed everyone. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she brought joy, laughter, and warmth wherever she went.
Mary never met a stranger. She was blessed with the gift of gab, always ready with a story, a kind word, or her signature phrase, “Bless your heart” — always said with sincerity. Her warmth and humor made her a magnetic presence in any room.
A true thrifter at heart, Mary found joy in the small treasures discovered at flea markets and Goodwill. She had an eye for beauty and a heart for nostalgia. Her compassionate nature extended to everyone — people and pets alike — and she often took on the role of caregiver, offering comfort and kindness when it was most needed.
Mary had a spirit of adventure and a love for the open road, riding motorcycles and snowbirding to her second home in Florida. She was an avid traveler and cruise enthusiast, visiting favorite destinations like Hawaii and Florida, often with family by her side. Her love of music was just as vibrant — especially when Elvis, Tom Jones, Patsy Cline, or Don Ho were playing in the background.
More than anything, Mary cherished time with her family. Her legacy of love, laughter, and care will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Rest in peace, Mary. Your light lives on.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Goff; parents, Elijah Massie and Minda Boyd Massie; and 4 siblings, Russell Massie, Jimmy Massie, Martha Massie, and Raymond Massie.
Left to cherish her memory, Mary is survived by 3 children, Lonnie Cays (Melinda), Earnie Cays (Debra), and Leesa Crowder (Bob); 2 siblings, Gladys Daily (Richard) and Ronnie Massie (Debbie); 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; significant other, Eugene Akly; and a host of extended family and close friends.
