Kathern Louise Hackensmith

Kathern Louise Hackensmith, 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on July 19, 2026.

Kathern was born on July 7,1945, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to the late Homer and Ruby West.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Beasley, Bill Hackensmith (Trina), and Mindy Kroll (Joe). Kathern was beyond blessed with eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry West (Candy) and Steve West.

Kathern was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Hackensmith.

Kathern enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. She loved listening to music, especially Keith Urban, watching Hallmark movies, completing word puzzles, and spending time at the beach. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Graveside services will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
