Louisville, Kentucky

John William Daniel "Danny" McFarland III, 73, passed away peacefully at his home on July 12, 2026.

John was born on April 29, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Darlene Nix Barrentine and John William McFarland II. A proud son of Louisville, he carried a deep love for his hometown throughout his life.

John was the dedicated owner of M&M Cosmetic Sealants, where he built a reputation for his exceptional craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and pride in every project he completed. He believed in doing things the right way and earned the respect of both his customers and those who worked alongside him.

For 32 wonderful years, John was married to the love of his life, Tara McFarland. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and lasting memories.

He was a devoted father to six children: Kimberly McFarland Dennison (Tony), Jeremiah McFarland (Michelle), Kelly Zigos Stoops, Ashley Crank (Scott), James McFarland, and Jamie Scaggs. He was a proud Papaw and Great-Papaw to Danielle, Seth, Faith (Dannie), Garrett (Mickalla), Jimmy (Cheyenne), Cyan (Jack), John "Zackery," Ethan, Elizabeth (Will), Tommy (Maddy), Alex, Gage, Ellie, Beau, Houston, Scarlett, Emerson, and two more on the way. He was deeply loved and respected by them all!

John is also survived by his brother, Kevin McFarland (Kelly); his sister, Margie O'Neil (Chris); his aunts, Charlotte Smith (Jim) and Sharon Hatfield; along with many beloved cousins, extended family members, and close friends whose lives were enriched by his friendship.

A lifelong fan of the Louisville Cardinals and a proud Louisvillian, John could often be found wearing red and black. Throughout his home and his office, he proudly represented his Cardinals!

John leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to his family, and countless memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
