Jacqueline Louise (Jackie Schuett) Little, age 91, died January 4, 2024, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born July 30, 1933, at the home of her grandparents, Samuel J. and Laura Mabel (Chance) Baird, in Cairo, Hall County, NE; she was the daughter of the late H. Allen and the late Lucile (Baird) Schuett.
Jackie went to Hall County schools District 24 and 14 and graduated from Senior High School in Grand Island, NE in 1950. She worked at the Bell Telephone Company as a toll operator 1950 – 1954 in Grand Island, NE. On nights she wasn’t working, she’d go to Glovera, a dance hall, where she danced the nights away with her gal pals. It was there that she met Jimmie Little. Though unimpressed by his “southern talking” she found those qualities that make a good husband. They married just three months later July 19, 1952, and began a love story that lasted 65 years, until Jimmies passing on April 4, 2020.
Jackie and Jimmie Built a beautiful life together, welcoming two children, Jo Noe in 1955 and Mike Little in 1958. Jackie Poured her heart into raising her family and supporting her community: volunteering with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and teaching Sunday school.
In 1964, Jackie began working for the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island, NE, before the family relocated to Kentucky in 1969 to be closer to Jimmies family. The move proved beneficial to both Jimmies and Jackies health. She found work at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky from 1970 to 1975.
With her children grown, Jackies creative spirit blossomed. She became an avid knitter, crocheter, and quilter, turning yarn and fabric into treasured gifts. Her love of family history led her genealogy, where she spent countless hours combing the past, ensuring future generations would know their roots. Mention an unknown family history to her, and she would have yours pieced together quickly. And then grandchildren were born. Thereafter, she dedicated her life to genealogy and her grandchildren.
Jackie was a dedicated member of the Crestwood United Methodist Church in Crestwood, KY, a lifetime member of the Kentucky State Historical Society and the Grand Island Senior High Alumni.
She is survived by her children, Jo (Ed) Noe and Michael (Lisa) Little; grandchildren, Elisha (Rick) Moore, Jenny Noe, and Kala Noe, and Chris (Steph) Little, and Matt (Carolyn) Little; and great grandchildren, Edie Lee-Little, Austin Murphy and Allison (Sam) Eldridge.
