Gerald Robert Dalton Sr.

Gerald Robert Dalton Sr., 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at his home in Crestwood, Kentucky. He was born on August 5, 1935, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to the late Elmer and Birdie Dalton.

Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. A dedicated family man, he found his greatest joy in caring for those he loved. After more than 35 years of faithful service at Ford Motor Company, Gerald retired to take on what he considered his most important role—caregiver to his daughter, Betsy, and his beloved wife, Joy.

Known for his patience and kindness, Gerald never met a stranger. He had a generous heart, a great sense of humor, and a genuine interest in the well-being of others. He was passionate about health and wellness, often encouraging those around him to take good care of themselves through proper nutrition and vitamins.

In his spare time, Gerald enjoyed playing golf, vacationing in Hilton Head, and taking memorable cruises throughout Europe and along the Mississippi River. His warmth, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gerald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Joy Dye Dalton; daughter, Betsy Dalton; parents, Elmer Dalton and Birdie Snodgrass Dalton; and siblings, Evelyn, Marg, Bill, Clarance, Larry, Danny, and Anita.

Left to cherish his memory, Gerald is survived by his son, Bob Dalton Jr. (Carol); grandchildren, Amanda Dalton Furby, Tracy Jennings (Andy), Steven Dalton (Julie), Katie Doyle (Ian); great-grandchildren, Abel, Lana, Elaine, Reid, Ava, Adalynn, Emrie, and Samantha; and sister, Jeannie Kriener (John); and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Gerald Dalton Sr., will be held at 1 PM on Friday, December 2, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens East Funeral Home, 11601 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the funeral home. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens East will follow the funeral service.
