Gary Robert Kemp, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at home.
He was born to Gerald and Juanita (Haynes) Kemp on November 1, 1942, in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Gary grew up in Eldred, Pennsylvania. In 1960, after graduating from Eldred - Otto High School, he enlisted in the US Navy where he proudly served his county and was honorably discharged in 1963. On July 26, 1969, he married Phyllis Clark in Rochester, NY. He retired from the Eastman-Kodak Company in 2004.
Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed watching sports and collecting cards, especially baseball. He collected classic car models and loved reading Civil War history.
Gary was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws, Melbourne and Esther Clark; two brothers-in-laws, David Keen and George LaValley; and a great-nephew, James Sheets.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his son, Aaron and his wife, Virginia of Gardner, KS and his daughter, Aimee and her husband, Kristopher Kincaid of Crestwood, KY.
One of the greatest joys in his life was his five grandchildren, LCpl. Nathaniel Kincaid, Noelle Kincaid, Nadelynn Kincaid, Abigail Kemp, and Nayden Kincaid.
He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Lunden (James) of Churchville, NY and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen Keen, Jane LaValley, Keith Clark (Melanie), Carolyn Showers (Larry); along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Homes East, 11601 Ballardsville Road, with Pastor Daniel Rogers officiating. Friends may call on the family from 10AM until service time Friday at the funeral home.
