Garland Theodore Thompson, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025. Born on March 6, 1945, to the late Garland T. Thompson and Sarah Thompson, Garland lived a life defined by service, love, and dedication to his family and country.
A proud veteran, Garland retired from the United States Navy after years of honorable service. His devotion to his country was only matched by the love he had for his family. He was a dedicated father to his daughters, Beth Smith and Phyllis Dalton, and a beloved brother to Steve Thompson (Beverly) and George Thompson.
Garland’s heart was also shared with his loyal canine companions, Bella and Tucker, who remained his steadfast friends in his later years. He now reunites in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Sarah Thompson, whom he cherished deeply.
Garland will be remembered for his unwavering patriotism, his kind and generous spirit, and his love for his family. He was, above all, the best father his daughters could have asked for.
Family and friends are invited to honor his life at a visitation on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Kentucky Humane Society, a cause close to Garland’s heart.
His legacy of love, service, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
