Dustin Russell Stevens, born on September 9, 1983, in Louisville, KY was sent to his eternal home on February 13, 2025, in Oviedo, FL. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Dustin loved his family fiercely and selflessly. His love was displayed in all of the small moments, such as making a cup of coffee each morning, packing the kids’ lunches, taking the children to karate, and telling his wife he thought she was beautiful, even when she didn’t feel it. He was playful and fun, creative and kind, hard-working and patient. Most importantly, he taught his children to pray, to talk to the Lord, and to know that His Kingdom is real.
Dustin is survived by his best friend and wife, Kendra, and his children, Grayson and Oswyn, who were his whole world. He is also survived by his adoring parents, Mark and Anita Stevens, who raised him to be an incredible man; his parents-in-law, Steve and Sheila Pierce, who considered him a son; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Brandon and Tina Stevens and Ty and Mikayla Stevens, who were not just siblings but friends. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cody and Shelbi Pierce, as well as nieces and nephews whom he would have loved to watch grow: Lane Woertz, Graeme Stevens, Freya Stevens, Owen Pierce, and Aiden Pierce. Dustin was the cherished grandson of Reese and Janice Stevens and leaves behind aunts and uncles who adored him dearly, including John and Terri Gott, along with a host of cousins he grew up with and loved. He was predeceased in death by his grandparents: Lee and Michiko Land, Russell “Pop” and Marguerite Derr, and Doris Stroud.
After graduating from Crawford County High School, Dustin attended the University of Southern Indiana to study Sociology. He volunteered as a youth sports coach and was interested in supporting troubled youth. However, after college, he met his future wife, Kendra, and life took them down another path as they moved to Louisville, then Nashville, and back to Louisville again. They were married on October 13, 2012, on what could only be described as the perfect day, surrounded by friends, family, and a promise to love each other forever.
Dustin and Kendra welcomed their son, Grayson, in 2014, and it was clear that Dustin was put on this earth to be a father. He brought patience, love, support, and fun every day. Continuing to be an example of devotion and love to his family, Dustin dedicated his life to Christ on April 20, 2019. In 2019, they moved to Orlando and welcomed their rainbow baby, Oswyn, in 2020. Always ready for the next great adventure together, Dustin and Kendra moved back to Louisville in 2021, where he began working with his father and brother at American Family Insurance, where his outgoing personality and exceptional customer service skills made him a customer favorite. Dustin cherished the rare opportunity to work with the man that raised him and valued the chance to learn from his father and brother. Dustin and Kendra’s most recent adventure brought them back to Orlando in July, 2024.
Those who knew Dustin recognized that he remained a kid at heart, with his comic collection and love of The Amazing Spider-Man. He enjoyed driving his Jeep and helping his kids “duck” other Jeeps, loved all types of music, and introduced his son to many different genres. Although he was initially resistant, he quickly fell in love with living in Florida and indulged his wife, allowing her to over-plan new adventures and treat the kids to constant trips to Disney World.
The Celebration of Life service to honor Dustin Russell Stevens will be held on February 21, at 6:00 PM at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, located at 11601 Ballardsville Rd, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Dustin will be cremated and brought home to live with his wife and children. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you give to Southeast Christian Church here or simply attend a Church service in his honor.
Dustin’s absence will be forever felt in the lives he touched, but we seek comfort in knowing that he is in Eternal Paradise, and we will see him again where there are no more tears and no more heartache.
