Doris Oatts Cooper, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025. She was born on April 20, 1948, to the late Shelby "Shell" David Oatts and Gladys Oatts.
Doris Oatts Cooper retired from Marathon Ashland Oil Company after many dedicated years of service. She was known for her warmth, love of family, and deep devotion to those around her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Shawn Lanae Cooper and Vanessa Kendria Cates (Wesley E.); her sister, Bess Oatts Anderson; and her beloved grandchildren: Cody Wayne Mattingly, Dustin Pierce Mattingly, Briley Kendall Cates, and Avery Elyse Cates. Doris Oatts Cooper was also a proud aunt and cousin to many, whose lives she touched deeply.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother William “Bill” Oatts, her niece Lisa Oatts New, and the love of her life, her husband Kenneth L. Cooper, with whom she shared many treasured adventures and years of happiness.
In her free time, Doris Oatts Cooper loved spending time with her family and friends, cheering on UK basketball, shopping, enjoying family gatherings, and traveling with her husband. Her joy in life came from being with those she loved and celebrating every moment with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East on Monday, June 23, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow. The family request that the service be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the American Cancer Society in honor of Doris Oatts Cooper's memory.
