Louisville

Clenith Leon Walden, 90, a devoted husband, a dedicated worker, and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on September 11, 1935, in Ponca, Oklahoma, Leon’s life was marked by hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.

A self-made man, Leon worked his way through college entirely on his own, embodying the values of determination and responsibility that defined his character. His career was centered around his long and dedicated tenure with Ford Motor Company. Moving from Los Angeles, California, to Louisville, Kentucky, he played a pivotal role in building the Ford Truck Plant on Chamberlain Lane. Over a span of more than 30 years, Leon proved himself a reliable and valued employee, steadfast in his work ethic and professional dedication.

Beyond his career, Leon's greatest source of pride was his family. He was a loving and kind husband to Gloria Walden, with whom he shared a life of mutual respect and quiet companionship. Their union was the foundation upon which their children and grandchildren grew, providing warmth and support throughout the years. Leon is survived by his children, Larry Walden (Ingrid) of San Diego, CA; Gary Walden (Dana) of Gaithersville, MD; Teresa Perrin of San Antonio, TX; Patricia Steiner of Tampa, FL; and Jon Heinrich (Lisa) of Louisville, KY. He cherished his six grandchildren—Austin Gonzales, Nathan Gonzales, Alec Walden, Ana Walden, Katie Heinrich, and Jacob Heinrich—as well as three great-grandchildren, all of whom were sources of immense joy and pride. His extended family, including many nieces and nephews, and close friends also held a special place in his heart.

A private man who never sought the spotlight, Leon was known for his kindness and generosity, always willing to help others without asking for anything in return. This spirit extended beyond his personal relationships; he was also an avid collector of music and movies and had a deep love of nonfiction books, through which he sought to continuously learn and explore new ideas.

In his retirement years, Leon embraced the life of a snowbird, spending time in Sun City Center, Florida, enjoying the warmth and community there while maintaining his roots in Louisville.

Leon was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Howard Walden and Beulah Epperson Walden, as well as his siblings Dennis Walden and Wanda Bell. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Leon Walden’s steadfast dedication to his family, his career, and his personal passions leaves a lasting legacy. He will be remembered as a humble, hardworking man whose kindness and quiet strength touched many lives. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
