Betty Myers Sherwood, 63, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, in Punta Gorda, Florida. Born on January 16, 1962, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Hal W. Myers Jr. and Alice Davis Myers.
Betty is survived by the love of her life, Jeff Sherwood, with whom she shared a beautiful 36 year journey of love and companionship. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Megan Sherwood, and a cherished sister to Eddie Myers. She also leaves behind her aunt, Maxine B. Davis, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Hal W. Myers III.
Betty had a warm heart and a kind soul, always ready to share a smile and a story. She never met a stranger—just a friend she hadn’t talked to yet—and could chat for hours, making everyone feel heard and valued. She had a deep fondness for animals, always carrying biscuits to treat the puppies she encountered on her golf cart rides in Florida. A true lover of adventure, Betty found joy in traveling to Florida during the colder months, where she embraced the beauty of palm trees. She loved listening to the blues and BB King, and had a playful fascination for Bigfoot. After high school, Betty became a cosmetologist and also taught dance at a studio, a talent she displayed at any given opportunity. She then attended travel school, which led to her airline career, with her ultimately becoming a flight attendant. In her later years, she found solace and community in her faith, attending Bible study with her RV friends and deepening her spiritual journey.
Betty’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or an animal rescue organization in her honor, reflecting her deep compassion for both children and animals.
The family also requests that everyone wear bright colors to the visitation and funeral to reflect her bright spirit.
